Surgical Technologists are members of the operating room team and assist in surgical operations under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses or other surgical personnel. Upon completion of Lincoln's surgical technologist training program, surgical responsibilities include passing instruments to the surgeons and may hold retractors, cut sutures and help count sponges, needles, supplies and instruments.
Hospitals still continue to be the primary employers of Surgical Technologists. Lincoln's Surgical Technologists A.A.S. Degree program includes hands-on training in the classroom setting as well as clinical externship in local hospitals and facilities. Pre-admission testing is required.
The Surgical Technology Associate in Applied Science Degree program is offered at our Fern Park (Orlando) campus. The Surgical Technologist Diploma program is offered at the Seminole (Tampa Bay) campus.
